Trailer Insurance

There are two types of coverage for trailers:  Camping Trailers and Utility Trailers.  Please refer to the appropriate category below for insurance details.

CAMPING TRAILERS
Provides liability and physical damage coverage if requested by insured.

Qualifications
Need liability of a towing vehicle (if the trailer is towed). Insured needs to be the owner of the trailer.  If the trailer is permanently parked, it needs to be blocked and skirted.

Required by Law
Not required by law, but may be required to meet conditions of financing agreements or lease agreements.

Things that can be covered
Liability, collision, comprehensive- requested.

If trailer is permanently parked, can have coverage for outbuildings on the lot and contents normally kept in the trailer, fire, wind, lightening, water, burglary. Replacement cost is also an option if it qualifies – age of trailer and original owner.

  • Age and value of the trailer
  • Coverage requested
  • Claims & ticket history

UTILITY TRAILERS
Provides liability coverage while being towed and can provide collision and comprehensive coverage, if requested.

Qualifications
a vehicle ownership w/ serial number in insured’s name. Towing vehicle must have liability.

Required by law
Not required by law, but may be required to meet conditions of financing agreements or lease agreements.

Things that can be covered
Liability in the event it comes detached from towing vehicle, collision with another object (if requested) and comprehensive (if requested)

Premiums based on

  • Value of the trailer
  • Coverages requested
  • Claims & ticket history
