Registered Retirement Savings Plans
Registered Retirement Savings Plans are for anyone interested in saving money towards retirement who meets the criteria below. Because it is a registered savings plan, all growth through the RRSP is tax-deferred. At retirement, because your taxes were deferred, you will be expected to pay income tax on your RRSP withdrawals, but your nest egg will be much larger than it would have been if the money you invested had been taxed as you earned it.
Qualifications
If you would like to make an RRSP contribution, you must have the following:
- A Social Insurance Number
- Earned income in the previous year
- Income Tax filed from previous year
- Must be 71 or younger
Contributions based on
Choose the amount you would like to contribute up to a yearly limit set by the Canadian Government.
