Cambridge, ON, November 30, 2016: Josslin Insurance was honoured with the prestigious David Borges Community Involvement Award on Friday, November 4. The brokerage was recognized by the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Foundation (CNDCF) for its commitment to community, including work with local not-for-profit organizations like Strong Start to Reading.
“To be honest, we are a small enterprise that is proud to support great causes, and we are humbled to receive this award,” said Steve Wagler, Brokerage Partner of Josslin Insurance. “Our organization’s primary goal is to make a real difference at every opportunity. That includes helping people to arrange for insurance or make a claim when they’ve suffered a loss, but we also strive to have an impact when supporting local organizations.”
Josslin Insurance, which recently celebrated its 135th year of continuous business in the region, has six offices in Ontario. Immediately upon opening their Cambridge office in 2014, they began looking for ways to connect with their new community and support local organizations such as arts organizations and minor sports teams. They also increased their long-standing support of Strong Start to Reading, to include sponsorship of a child literacy program in Tait Street Public School. The people of Strong Start to Reading brought Josslin to the attention of the CNDCF.
"Josslin Insurance opened their Cambridge office less than two years ago,” said Lisa Short, Executive Director of the CNDCF. “They used their experience in other communities to find ways to engage, give back and make a difference locally. We were impressed with their efforts to quickly immerse themselves into our community and get involved."
The CNDCF exists to ensure the needs of its community are met today and tomorrow. Grants are made possible through the investments of many community builders—their donors. Last year, the CNDCF distributed more than $300,000 in grants throughout the community, and over $2.5 million since 1998. Initiated in 2012, the Foundation’s David Borges Outstanding Community Involvement award is named in honour of its former Board Chair, and is presented annually to a business in Cambridge or North Dumfries.
